 12 August- National Librarian,s day

12th August is celebrated as National Librarian,s Day in India in the memory of  Dr . S.R.Ranganathan, The day is celebrated to mark his birthday.He is also known as the father of library science,documentation and information science in India and is widely known thriughout the rest of the world for his fundamental thinking in the field.He was a university librarian and professor of library science at Banaras Hindu University (1945-55). Some of his notable works are Prolegomena to library classification,The five laws of library science,Colon classification .He was awarded with Padma Shri in 1957.This book lover died on 27 Sept.1972.Dr. Ranganathan spearheaded library development in India.The day reminds the librarians their mission to work towards meeting the information needs of the people. We must say -It is very important to know the importance of the library science in the modern scenario.A library is not the only a collection of books but is a way to transform life and society. We as people representing the library science know that researches or motivation by us can change student,s life and future.There is great importance of library and librarian has to play an important role in moulding and shaping the readers
